Since independence, India has progressed a lot in improving the health status of its populations by achieving the desired target of vital indicators. Since the launch of many health intervention programs, India’s (for eg: NRHM) political and public health leadership has translated the best of those into policy and made substantial contributions to advancing population health of the country.

The year 2015 is set to be significant year from the perspective of health as from MDG, she shifted its focus to United Nation’s Universal SDG, based on the proven health interventions and initiated to design new and innovative health solution towards UHC, NHAM; RSBY; subsidize essential medicines; non-communicable diseases (NCDs), including injuries and mental health issues and last but not the least is the integration of health services and making them people-centred to ensure that it is not the disease, which is treated, but the whole individual is provided continuum of care.
